Voyagers Lose In Bid To Win Game Five Versus Chukars
Voyagers look to clinch series win Sunday afternoon
(Great Falls, MT)— After giving the Idaho Falls Chukars (7-4) a beat down on Friday night, the Great Falls Voyagers (6-5) hoped to do the same on Saturday night. Things were flipped at the plate in this game five of six, however, as the Chukars came away with the big win, 14-2.
The Chukars started scoring early and often as they put two across in the second and two in the third. The Voyagers only runs of the game came in the third inning as they got a single from Cris De Guzman to right. This was followed by a single to left from Will Olson. Breydon Daniel drew a walk to load the bases, and Jake Malec also drew a walk to bring home De Guzman. Riley Jepson hit a deep fly ball to right to bring home Olson and that ended the scoring for the Voyagers, not only in the second inning but for the game as well.
The Chukars, however, continued to pour on the runs as they plated five in the fourth, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and two in the eighth to finish the game with the win at 14-2.
The Voyagers still lead the series, three games to two, and look to get the series win Sunday afternoon. The gates at Centene Stadium will open at 3 p.m. and first pitch will be at 4 p.m.
