Voyagers Even Up Series With Win Over PaddleHeads
The Voyagers quieted Missoula when they tied the series at two.
(Great Falls, MT) - The Great Falls Voyagers (27-18) quieted the Missoula PaddleHeads (33-12) Friday night with a 7-3 win.
The game started with the Voyagers starting pitcher, Quincy Jones, only giving up two runs through six innings. The game was relatively slow in the way of scoring, with the Voyagers not getting on theo board until the fourth inning. Riley Jepson drew a base on balls, and Collin Runge's ground ball to short was mishandled, allowing both runners to be safe. Lukas Polanco had a single, scoring Jepson and Runge on an error by the third baseman, evening the score at two after four innings.
The Voyagers put up the leading run in the fifth inning as Myles McKisic had a double and was brought home on a single by Breydon Daniel. Another run in the sixth gave the Voyagers an insurance marker as Chris Monroe hit a double to left and came in on a single from McKisic.
The PaddleHeads got a run back in the seventh, but were then shut out by pitchers Joshua Gainer and Montana Quigley. The Voyagers added a run themselves in the seventh as they drew four walks by Jake Malec, Michael Deeb, Polanco, and Monroe.
Two more Voyager runs were added in the eigth for good measure. McKisic got the inning started with a triple to deep center. Daniel drew a walk and McKisic was brought home on a single by Malec. Daniel was able to score on a sacrifice fly ball to center by Jepson.
The Voyagers and the PaddleHeads will square off in game five of this six game series Saturday night at 7 p.m. See you at the stadium!
