Voyagers Lose Game Three of Six to PaddleHeads
Voyagers unable to come back
(Great Falls, MT) - The Great Falls Voyagers (26-18) were in search of a win after losing game two of a six game series to the Missoula PaddleHeads (33-11). Unfortunately for the Voyagers, they ran in to some great pitching by the PaddleHeads and came up short.
The game started out well for Voyagers starting pitcher, Breonn Pooler, as he struck out the first batter. Pooler ended up striking out the side in the first but in between was an unearned run as the Voyagers defense had an error in the first inning. This would be the first of three errors in the game after giving up five errors in last nights' game.
The PaddleHeads got three more runs in the third inning and the Voyagers found themselves trailing 4-0 going into the bottom of the third. Myles McKisic drew a walk in the third, followed by a strong home run over the right field fence by Breydon Daniel. Riley Jepson would double to right and be brought home on a single from Derek Kolbush, making it 4-3 after the third inning. Unfortunately for the Voyagers, they wouldn't score again until the eighth inning. In the meantime, Missoula was able to add one in the fourth, and two in the seventh.
Pooler left the game after six strong innings giving up five runs but only three of them being earned. The Voyagers gave up another two runs in the eighth, making it 9-3 going into the bottom of the inning. Daniel was walked in the eighth and was pushed to third on a single by Jepson. A wild pitch scored Daniel but that was all the Voyagers could muster in the eighth.
With the PaddleHeads up 9-4 after eight innings, they added an insurance run in the ninth. The Voyagers' Michael Deeb drew a walk to start off the inning, and moved to second on a wild pitch. Deeb was brought home and on a double by Will Olson, but that would finish the scoring for the Voyagers and they would lose 10-5.
The Voyagers and PaddleHeads go at it again Friday night and the Voyagers will try to even out the series at 2 each. Gates open at 6 p.m., with first pitch at 7.
