Voyagers bounce back from loss with a big win in game 3
(Great Falls, Mt. ) The Great Falls Voyagers (11-4) were looking to bounce back with a win after losing big on Thursday night to the Glacier Range Riders (6-8). They did exactly that as they came away with the win 11-4.
The game started off well for the Voyagers as starting pitcher, Pablo Arevelo, kept the Range Riders off the scoreboard for the first 3 innings. The Voyagers on the other hand put a run up in the first inning as Jake Malec started things off with a single to left field. He stole second and was brought home on a single by Tyler Krabbe.
The Voyagers struck again in the 3rd inning as Malec started the inning off with a triple to left center. Andy Atwood drew a base on balls and promptly stole second. Riley Jepson hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Malec. Atwood then stole third and attempted to steal home. To the crowd and Voyager dugout it appeared that Atwood succeeded as his left hand went between the feet of the catcher prior to the tag. Atwood was called out at home, and pitching coach Brandon Kloess was tossed from the game arguing the call.
The Range Riders were able to score two in the 4th inning to tie the score, but did not hold that for long as the Voyagers scored one in their half of the inning. Collin Runge had a double and was brought in on a single by Derek Kolbush.
After a scoreless 5th for Glacier, the Voyagers extended the lead by plating 3 in the 5th inning. Atwood reached on a fielders choice after Malec had a single. Atwood stole second then came home on a single by Jepson. Jepson stole second and was brought in on a double to right by Tyler Krabbe. Krabbe scored on a throwing error by the third baseman on a ground ball from Runge. On the error Runge would go to third but was unable to be pushed in from there.
The Range Riders were able to eek out a run in the 6th and 7th innings while the Voyagers plated one in the 7th themselves. Krabbe started that with a single, and pushed in on a single by Michael Deeb.
In the 8th inning while leading 7-4 the Voyagers sealed the game away with four runs. Breydon Daniel started the inning with a bunt single but was thrown out at second on a fielders choice on a ground ball by Malec. Malec stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. Atwood drew a walk, followed by a walk to Jepson. With the bases loaded Krabbe came through big time with a double to left. This scored two runs and two more came in on a single to right by Deeb.
This rounded out the scoring for the Voyagers and Montana Quigley, who had come in in the 7th inning closed out the Glacier squads hopes with a 3 up 3 out 9th. Giving the Voyagers an 11-4 win and their 11th of the season.
The Voyagers and Range Riders will face off in game 4 of the 6 game series on Friday night. Gates open at 6 p.m. and first pitch at 7. It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day in Great Falls, why not enjoy it at Centene Stadium while you watch the Voyagers go for another win!!
