Great Falls wrapped up their second series of the season at Glacier yesterday. The series didn't go how the team was hoping, dropping the last three games of the series. The last two were close to the finish.
On Saturday, the team came out on fire, looking to bounce back from the loss the day previous. Mahki Backstrom doubled to left and Freddy Rojas Jr. walked when Livingston Morris stepped in for a three-run homer to start the game. Glacier responded, however, with two runs in the bottom of the first, and then five more in the second inning, two of which came from a Ben Fitzgerald home run, giving his team a 7-3 lead. The Voyagers would score runs in the 5th and 6th, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback. Livingston Morris hit his second home run of the day in the 6th inning, this time a solo shot, again to left field.
Back on Sunday, the team lost 6-8 despite a solid start from James Deloatch and a two-hit, two RBI game from Catcher Antonio Fernandez. The Voyagers started off great, taking a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the 5th. Deloatch gave up three runs in the 5th, but still left the mound with his team ahead. Glacier's bats kept the momentum going in the 6th and put up three more runs, never giving the lead back. Deloatch is credited with the loss, going 5 innings, 4 earned runs, 6 strikeouts.
The team has Monday, June 3rd off as they prepare for the start of their series against Missoula tomorrow. The series marks the third series of the season for Great Falls, and the first against Missoula. All games will be played at Missoula, tomorrow is a 7:05 start time, anticipated starter for the Voyagers is Jeff Praml.
